Revitalizing In-Person Hiring Events
Problem Statement: As virtual events gained prominence, in-person events experienced a decline in support. Despite this, in-person events continued to be a significant channel for hiring, with a higher conversion rate compared to virtual events.
Goal: To reinvigorate in-person events by identifying key pain points and opportunities for improvement, ultimately enhancing the overall experience for both employers and job seekers.

Solution Approach
Ethnographic Study
By conducting ethnographic research at 8 live events in Austin and interviewing 15 employers, we developed a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the in-person event landscape.
Observations from Research
A Flawed Foundation: The Limitations of the Legacy Sign-in Tool
Our legacy sign-in tool lacked the functionality to support the entire interview process, resulting in low adoption rates. Only 7% of clients utilized it, with most employers relying on their own tools to manage applicants, including tracking status, taking notes, and defining next steps.
Unplanned Arrivals: The Impact of Walk-in Attendees
The frequent occurrence of walk-in attendees created bottlenecks, as employers struggled to accommodate unexpected participants without prior RSVPs.
Manual Labor: The Inefficiency of Data Entry
Employers were burdened with manually transferring candidate information from physical resumes to their Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), leading to inefficiencies and potential errors.
A Blind Spot: The Lack of Pre-Event Candidate Information
Employers often felt underprepared for interviews as they did not have access to candidate resumes prior to the event.
Guesswork and Spreadsheets: The Limitations of Manual Performance Tracking
Both employers and the Indeed sales team relied on manual calculations to assess the performance of events, limiting data-driven insights and optimization opportunities.
